Hii friends and community members!
I just wanted to drop a quick line to share two of my upcoming offerings this spring in the realm of poems, art-making, and creative living :) Maybe they are for you, and perhaps not— but if you could help me spread the word in any way (especially about this first one) I would be so grateful!
First up is…Stingray Artist Residency! I had sent out an email back in January about this virtual artist residency program I am running with my incredibly skilled artist-facilitator collaborators Nandita Batheja and Monica Carreño. We had a better-than-I-could-have-dreamed winter-spring cohort, and we are gearing up for our spring-summer session. Stingray Artist Residency is an 8 week series (running May 23rd-July 11th) that meets once a week on Sundays with the intention of unblocking creativity, developing new work, and reclaiming artistry for all. Whether you are looking for artistic community, accountability around making work, a total shift in how you understand your creative self, or something else entirely, we have space for you in our circle! Here’s what a few of our residents had to say. And you can click here for all the details, including our application.
Stingray is a DIY-spirited, word-of-mouth-spreading project, so if anyone crosses your mind who might be a future resident, send them to our loving arms!
Next up is a poetry reading I’ll be part of with a new collective called Poets of Queens. It’s an online reading on Sunday, May 16th from 2-3pm ET. It’s a Facebook Live event, so you can catch it on the Poets of Queens Facebook page!
And one last thing— I have been feeling so uplifted that the spring has brought us more mobility and reunions with our loved ones— and I hope you are feeling that in your life, too. But as we are all aware, this is not the case globally, and India really needs support right now. My friend Ani has organized a fundraiser with GiveIndia that donates money directly to the organization MUKTI responding to the COVID crisis in India. “MUKTI along with a few other organizations has formed a consortium to extend support to people impacted by COVID with Oxygen support and Medical kit support in Kolkata.” If you’re looking for somewhere to give, this is a trustworthy place to donate. The fundraiser is still trying to make its goal of $2500 US, so please help them reach their goal if you are able to support our global family.
That’s it for now.
Lots of love,
~Libby
